This is your weekly reminder

If your dashboard is updated manually every Friday at 6 PM, it's not your source of truth.

I've heard so many people say something like:

"We just update it manually once a week - it works fine."

And every time, I feel strong resistance.

Because if there's a consistent, repeatable process you follow to keep information up to date, it can be automated.

When you get pushback like, "It's too complicated to automate" try breaking it down:

👉 Outline the steps you take manually

👉 Define the inputs, logic, and desired output

👉 Make the process visible and concrete

Almost anything can be automated, maybe not perfectly, maybe with caveats or acceptable margins of error. But manual actions rarely give you perfect accuracy either.

In fact, they often hide inconsistencies and create room for human error.

So next time you hear "It's not automatable" ask yourself:

  • Have I clearly outlined the steps?

  • Do I know what "accurate" looks like?

  • Can I define success criteria?

Because once the process is defined, automation becomes not only possible - it becomes necessary.
