How Tracking My Small Wins Each Day Changed My Mindset

"What exactly did I accomplish today?"

That question used to bother me more often than I’d like to admit.

As a manager, I'm often pulled in different directions to keep momentum going across teams - answering quick questions, jumping on short calls, fixing tiny blockers, syncing with people across departments. These things matter, but they rarely feel "big" or "important" in the moment.

By the end of the day, I often felt like I hadn't accomplished anything concrete, just… floated through meetings and Slack threads.

But something changed when I started writing down my daily small wins and things done.

It began with a simple habit:

Every time I completed something, even a quick fix or short sync, I'd quickly make a note of it. No overthinking. Just a quick note.

It was partly inspired by our corporate habit of writing weekly async summaries per department. To make mine better, I started tracking daily. What surprised me is how powerful this tiny habit became.

- It's like bullet journaling, but for work.

- It gives structure to chaos.

- It helps me see progress.

- It made my impostor syndrome quiet down, because now I see my value, not just guess at it.

Give this a try. You'll be surprised how many meaningful things you do every single day.
